The Punjab government has taken strict action in the case of an objectionable video of girl students of Chandigarh University located in Mohali, Punjab going viral. While the accused have been arrested, on the other hand a special investigation team of women officers has been formed which will investigate the matter.
In the private university in Mohali, on Friday-Saturday night, students started agitation when it came to light that objectionable videos of some girls have gone viral. The ground slipped from under the feet of the students when they came to know that there is no one else to do this, there is a student in their midst. However, district SSP Vivek Sheel Soni has claimed that so far only one video has surfaced which is of the accused. It is being claimed that the accused girl made a video of 5-6 girls while taking a bath.In the hostel of the university,
A woman student was suspect of constructing videos of 5-6 women whereas taking a shower within the rest room.

After this issue was raised on 17-18 Sept, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ordered associate
degree inquiry into the matter on Sunday eighteen Sept.

University officials also dismissed as "false and
baseless" reports that claimed that videos of several girl students in the
university hostel were made and shared on social media and that many students

What did the police say about the matter
Mohali SSP Vivek Sheel Soni told that after 'rumours' of
leaking videos of many girl students, there was a protest in the university
after midnight.
He said that the mobile phone of the arrested student has
been confiscated for forensic examination.
Police officials said that a case has been registered
under Section-354C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Information Technology
Act and investigation is on.
Strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Mohali SSP Viveksheel Soni told- The girl is being taken
into custody and interrogated. His mobile phone has been taken. The video that
the girl sent to her boyfriend is her own. Other girls don't have videos. While
she was sending her video, other girls of the hostel noticed her. The accused
girl and her boyfriend are in a relationship with each other for a long time.
The SSP said that the female warden had mistakenly said
that the respect of other girls had to be taken care of. The accused girl did
not even make a video of any other girl.
What did CM Mann say about the incident?
Chief Minister Mann tweeted, "Sad to hear about the
unfortunate incident of Chandigarh University...Our daughters are our honor...A
high level inquiry has been ordered in the matter...Whoever is found guilty
will be punished." Strict action will be taken against
CM said, "I am in touch with the
administration." Along with this, Mann appealed to the people not to pay
heed to the rumours.
There were also sharp reactions from political parties
regarding this incident and central and state women's rights bodies also
intervened.

Arvind Kejriwal say on the incident?
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national
convener Arvind Kejriwal said those involved in the case would get "the
harshest punishment".

We are all with you. All act with restraint."
National Commission for Women wrote a letter to the
police
National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma
has written a letter to the Director General of Punjab Police asking her to
immediately register an FIR in the matter and deal strictly with the matter
without any negligence.
The commission said that the victim girls of the case
should be given proper counseling and their safety should be ensured.
